Edinburgh
Fringe show, transferring to Soho
Theatre in September/October:
MATT
DYKTYNSKI - POLE DANCER
(4 to 30 Aug: 8.15: Pleasance Courtyard
- not 16th)
Ditching
Australian screen fame, Matt believes
he's finally escaped his vodka-soaked
liberal parents, but unfortunately
there's still the phone!
"Dyktynski's achievement with 'Pole Dancer' is quite remarkable. He arrived in London as an actor. His first ever five-minute open spot as a comedian came in October last year. Yet he now has a solo show that other infinitely more experienced stand-ups would kill for" Malcolm Hay Time Out.
"A delight. Sharply observed,
original and funny. An engaging and
infectious
sense of humour"
FringeReport
"Slick, professional and, importantly,
gets the laughs. Took the roof off
... warmed the audience to boiling
point" Chortle
SYNOPSIS:
We
all need distance from our parents.
Matt has got 13000 miles away from
his.
Australian
comic, singer songwriter, and actor
Matt Dyktynski is the product of multiculturalism
gone wrong – the result of putting
together a dancer from Blackpool who
likes a drink, and a Polish gambler
who lives with his mother.
Dyktynski
takes us on an entertaining journey
in a lively stand-up routine that
encompasses bizarre tales about his
formative experiences, evocative songs,
maybe complementary vodka, and what
can only be described as parental
intervention and a son’s shame.
Pole
Dancer is a celebration of life, laughter
and music, of being Polish,
being
English, the reality of living in
Australia … and of being alive.
